People are probably never going to get tired of remaking Shakespeare. I have an okay tolerance for modernized versions and had been meaning to check out O, a retelling of Othello, for a while now. I’ve only got minimal familiarity with the original source material though.

O was gripping and pretty intense. Early on I got a quiet sense of dread, like, “Oh boy this is not going to end well” – which could have just been because it’s Shakespeare, DUH. But I think a lot of it was due to the mood of the picture. The actors were all very appealing too. And it made me want to read Othello, so that feels like a sign of a successful remake.
